L’Équipe are reporting that Davide Ancelotti (33) is a surprise candidate to replace Didier Digard as the manager of OGC Nice.

As reported by Nice-Matin, Digard won’t take charge of Les Aiglons next season. The former Nice player took over from Lucien Favre on an interim basis in January and was later handed the job until the end of the season. However, Florent Ghisolfi, INEOS, and the rest of the hierarchy at Nice are looking to make another appointment this summer.

As first reported by RMC Sport, Régis Le Bris is one of the priorities and is being pushed by Ghisolfi and CEO Fabrice Bocquet. However, INEOS are still keen on Graham Potter, but interest from Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Leicester City has seen Le Gym’s interest cool.

A surprise name has now been added to the mix. Ancelotti, son of Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has been linked to the role by L’Équipe. Davide worked with his father at PSG back in 2012 as a physical trainer. He has since worked in data and tactical analysis. He is currently an assistant at Real Madrid but could free himself from his contract with the reigning European champions.
