Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta is targeting a call-up to France’s Euro 2024 squad.

Mateta has 10 goals in his last 12 Premier League appearances and is one of the top-flight’s most in-form players.

He has made no secret of his desire to represent France at senior level, and hopes he has caught the eye of national team manager Didier Deschamps.

“My objective? Les Bleus”, said Mateta, adding that a call-up: “[Is] so important to me.

“I won’t hide it, I’m thinking about the Euros, the France national team — it’s my No1 objective, my childhood dream. I will watch the [squad] announcement.”

Speaking to the BBC this week, Mateta said: “It’s in my head, when I’m training, when I’m waking up.

“It is just about performing with Palace and one day Didier Deschamps, if he can think about me, I can help him to do whatever.”

Mateta, 26, previously represented France at both Under-19 and Under-21 level.
