Chelsea and Red Bull Leipzig are discussing payment terms over the transfer of French forward Christopher Nkunku (24). The London club’s “Plan B” is to pay the €60m release clause, which comes into effect next summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

As has been widely reported in French and German media, Nkunku underwent a medical in Germany ahead of a potential move to Chelsea. According to Romano, all parties “wanted to keep the Chelsea medical secret.”

Chelsea, who according to Santi Aouna, are in “pole position” to sign the French international, are looking to complete a deal. Although Romano, reports that the deal “is not done yet,”  the clubs are in discussions over a fee. Should an agreement between the clubs not be found, Chelsea would be prepared to pay the release clause, which comes into effect next summer.

As Fabrice Hawkins reported last week, Liverpool also remain in the race for the Leipzig attacker.
