According to Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain and Xavi Simons (21) will decide on their future before Euro 2024. However, PSG reportedly do not want to sell the Dutchman this summer and would prefer instead a loan move.
Romano pushes back against the report published yesterday evening which suggested that RB Leipzig and Les Parisiens had entered into negotiations over the attacking midfielder. He instead writes that the Bundesliga side does not have the necessary funds to complete a permanent deal.
Rather a loan agreement looks as if it will be the most likely outcome for Simons. Leipzig have been clear in the past that they wished to extend Simons’ loan beyond this season, while Barcelona have been heavily linked with a return for their former La Masia graduate.
Premier League teams remain in the mix as they look to hijack a deal for the attacking midfielder. In either case, it appears as if Simons will have a significant say on where he ends up on loan.
