As reported by RAC1, Barcelona summer arrival Pablo Torre will start playing for the club’s reserves once the international break is out of the way.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder joined the club from Racing Santander earlier this summer after a deal for his signing had been struck back in March itself.

Torre arrived at Spotify Camp Nou after helping his former club earn promotion to La Liga 2 from the RFEF Primera Division. Given his potential, manager Xavi Hernandez quickly involved him in the first-team dynamics at Barça.

However, while the Spaniard trains with the senior team, game-time has been hard to come by for him due to the intense competition for spots in midfield. Indeed, Torre is behind Pedri, Gavi, Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong and Franck Kessie in the pecking order.

As a result, he has featured just one time for Barcelona this term, when he made his debut against Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Champions League.

It has led to concerns over his development as he has been completely starved of minutes. Torre, though, has been reluctant to play for Barça Atletic, as they are in the RFEF Primera Division, and he sees it as a step down after helping Racing get promoted from the same division.

However, it seems like an arrangement will be made for Torre to get minutes with Rafa Marquez’s reserves while remaining in the first-team dynamics with Xavi & co. The Barcelona legend plans to hold talks with the youngster about his situation.

Given the lack of minutes, it makes sense for Torre to play with the reserves as it would help his development and not stall his progress.
