The outlet assures that the club feels the final certificate of work will be acquired today or by Wednesday at best.

This would mark the long-awaited return to their iconic stadium after two years of renovation work.

For supporters, this will not just be another matchday, as it will be a celebration. The Camp Nou, which has been under construction as part of a massive remodelling project, is finally close to hosting fans again.

A much-awaited dream

Joan Laporta’s bold decision to push forward with the project, despite the club’s financial struggles and the bureaucratic challenges of permits, is now beginning to bear fruit.

The idea of modernising Camp Nou goes back decades. It was Josep Lluis Nunez, former Barça president, who first put forward the concept of “Barça 2000” to remodel the ageing stadium.

More than 20 years later, the dream is turning into reality. While the complete works are expected to continue for another two years, the partial reopening is seen as a huge step forward.

Final approvals awaited before tickets go on sale

What remains for the official announcement is one last piece of paperwork, which is the final certificate of works (CFO).

Once this is secured, Barcelona will be able to put tickets on sale for the highly anticipated match against Valencia.

The club is confident that this approval could arrive today, tomorrow, or by Wednesday at the latest.

Once received, the City Council will give the validation of the first occupation licence, formally allowing the stadium to open its gates again.

Optimism inside the club is absolute. In the unlikely event of a delay, the return to Camp Nou would be pushed back by only a week, with Getafe being the opponents on September 21.
