The Leeds United player will spend the rest of the campaign with the Owls, as the Yorkshire outfit fights against relegation from the Championship.

The 24-year-old has featured five times for Danny Rohl’s side so far this campaign, and has contributed one assist (all stats from Fbref).

The player struggled for game time with the Whites, starting in just one of his seven appearances this season prior to his January exit.

But his performances for Wednesday suggest a permanent move in the summer could be an ideal solution for all parties.

FLW’s Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit Callum Maxted has claimed that a permanent move for Poveda in the summer would be welcome.

He believes the Leeds loanee is a Championship quality player based on his performance so far for the club.

“100% yes, really,” Maxted told Football League World.

“Poveda is a Championship quality player.

“I’m not really sure what went wrong at Leeds but he is probably one of our better players, along with [Barry] Bannan now.

“I think he’s someone we can use if we are to stay in the division.

“I don’t think he’d come if we were relegated, to be honest, so he’d be a big, big, big player to sign and I think in his first games he’s shown that he has all the ability to be a top footballer.”

Sheffield Wednesday in January, with Ike Ugbo and Kristian Pedersen also joining the Championship side to help their bid for survival.

Sheffield Wednesday league position

Rohl’s side currently occupy a place inside the bottom three, but are now within three points of safety.

The German coach has earned a lot of credit for turning things around at Hillsborough, as the team suffered an extremely poor start to the campaign under Xisco Munoz.

Wednesday have 12 games left to turn around their position in the league, with only eight points splitting 15th from 23rd.

Next up for the Owls is an away trip to 24th place side Rotherham United, with the teams set to meet on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.

Poveda’s positive impact can help survival bid

Wednesday were active in the January window, and the arrival of Poveda was a really positive addition to the team.

While the club didn’t spend heavily by any means, they did work well with the resources they have to provide Rohl with some additional strength and depth.

This could be the difference between staying up and going down for the club.

It is still so tight at the bottom that supporters will feel like this remarkable turnaround can be completed, which would strengthen their chances of retaining Poveda beyond this term.
