According to Colombian outlet AS, there are four clubs chasing the signature of the 24-year-old in the upcoming transfer market.
Poveda has spent the second half of the campaign on loan with the Owls, where he has featured 10 times, including eight starts (all stats from Fbref).
The forward is set to be a free agent this summer, meaning he will be available to sign for whichever side he prefers.
It is looking increasingly likely that he will depart Elland Road, having struggled for game time in Daniel Farke’s side prior to his January move to Sheffield Wednesday.
It is believed that Sheffield Wednesday have the upper hand in the race to sign the Leeds winger.
Poveda is keen to continue working alongside Danny Rohl at Hillsborough, with the German also looking to keep the player in his first team squad for next year.
A contract offer is expected from the Yorkshire outfit as they look to retain the player beyond his initial loan spell.
However, the Owls will face competition from two Premier League sides in Burnley and Luton Town.
Both sides are facing the threat of relegation back to the Championship, and are already looking at ways to improve their squads this summer.
They both have a keen interest in the 24-year-old, and could make a move to win the race to his signature.
Championship rival Sunderland are also eyeing the winger, and will provide second tier competition to try and sign Poveda.
Despite interest from rivals, Sheffield Wednesday are still seen as the current front-runners to sign Poveda on a permanent basis.
However, the player has yet to officially decide on his future, which leaves the door open for other clubs to try and persuade him to sign elsewhere.
Rohl’s side clinched their place in the second division for another year with a final day victory over the Black Cats.
A 2-0 win at the Stadium of Light ensured the Owls remained in the Championship after a remarkable escape from the relegation zone.
Poveda missed the final weeks of the campaign, but was an important part of their survival.
Staying in the second tier could prove key to winning the race to Poveda’s signature, as he may not have wanted to compete in League One next year when Championship football was on offer.
Rohl’s future has been up in the air in recent weeks due to public comments made, but it is expected that he will remain at the club.
The 35-year-old will want to be backed in the transfer market, and the addition of Poveda on a permanent basis would be a good sign of that ambition.
As a free agent, he should be an affordable addition and he already knows the first team squad well from the last six months.
Winning the race to his signature ahead of Luton, Burnley and Sunderland would be a great start to their summer business.
