Sheffield Wednesday are considering a summer move for Leeds United attacker Keenan Carole.
That's according to a report from The Sheffield Star, who say that the 19-year-old has already featured for the Owls on trial.
Carole is the son of former Leeds winger Sebastien Carole, who made 52 appearances in all competitions for the Elland Road club between 2006 and 2008.
Having come through the youth ranks with the club, the younger Carole is yet to make his first-team debut for the Whites.
While he has been a regular at Under 18 and Under 21 level in recent years, the teenager's contract at Elland Road is set to expire at the end of this season.
As a result, it now seems as though the attacker is starting to attract some interest from elsewhere ahead of the summer.
If the 19-year-old does indeed leave Leeds before the start of next season, one club it seems he could end up at is Sheffield Wednesday.
As per this latest update, the Owls have taken Carole on trial, as they assess potential targets for the summer transfer window.
Indeed, it is thought that the attacker even played 70 minutes for Wednesday's Under 21s side during a 2-1 win over Ipswich Town in the final game of their season last week.
Following that, Sheffield Wednesday will no doubt now be considering whether or not to offer Carole a new contract ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
The Owls can now plan for next season in the Championship at senior level. A 2-0 win at Sunderland on the final day of the campaign saw them complete a great escape by securing a 20th place finish in the final standings, three points clear of the relegation zone.
Leeds, meanwhile, were forced to settle for a third place finish, meaning their hopes of promotion will now be decided via the play-offs.
They begin that particular battle for a place in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, when they travel to Carrow Road to face Norwich City in the first leg of their play-off semi-final.
It will certainly be interesting to see how things play out for Carole in the wake of his trial with Sheffield Wednesday.
Given his lack of first-team experience, it is hard to imagine he is a player who the Owls will be immediately considering for Danny Rohl's senior side right now.
Even so, like any club, Wednesday will need players coming through the youth ranks to step into those roles in the years to come.
Carole could well be one of them, given the fact he has shown his potential at that level at least, considering how long he has been working through the youth ranks at Leeds.
It is, of course, also worth noting that Carole is not the only Leeds man Wednesday have been credited with an interest in.
Ian Poveda, who spent the second half of this season on loan at Hillsborough, has now been linked with a permanent move back to the Owls.
