A Pittsburgh win by 3+ points cashes all the bets made on the Steelers to cover the spread, while any other result (Pittsburgh wins by 1 or 2 points, or Baltimore wins) sees the Ravens cover the spread.

Totals

Totals markets ask bettors to go ‘over’ or ‘under’ a set number on a statistical category. Most props are forms of total bets, but other full game things, like going over or under the combined score, are the most common examples.

Using that same Pittsburgh/Baltimore example, the spread for the game would be Pittsburgh (-2.5), but the total for the game would be something like 44.5 points. In that case, bettors are deciding whether the combined point total of both teams will go over or under that 44.5 number.

A 23-20 Pittsburgh win would be a win for ‘under’ bettors with a total of 43 points, while a 26-21 win (47 combined points) for the Steelers would cash the ‘over.’
