If you’re a fan of placing multi bets, it should be noted that the options are pretty limited at Pinnacle. While reviewing the site, we didn’t find many options for same game parlays or more complex system bets like trixies or yankees. Most of the multi bet action comes from straight parlays.

Outrights

In betting, the term ‘outright’ means who’ll win a competition overall. This might be a bet on a team, such as the Toronto Maple Leafs, to win the Stanley Cup, or on a market such as Brooke Henderson to win a golf tournament.

These bets are commonly placed before the action begins; however, you can make them during a tournament or the season as well. Don’t expect the odds to remain the same, as they’ll be updated to reflect how well or how poorly each competitor is performing. These are also called futures bets.

Player Props

These are wagers which let you bet on how players will perform. Many bettors love betting on how star athletes like Connor McDavid or Auston Matthews will perform, while others enjoy analyzing individual performances and looking for good value bets.

Examples of player props in hockey include the number of goals, assists, or penalties a player accumulates. In football, you can bet on how many yards a quarterback will throw or how many catches a receiver will make.

Spread Betting

In spread betting, the favourite for the game is given a points handicap. The underdog is then given the same number of points as an added boost. At the end of the game, these points are taken into account with the final score, and your pick needs to ‘beat the spread’ for the bet to win.

Let’s say the Buffalo Bills are -6.5 point favourites against the New England Patriots. If the Bills win by 6 points or more, they’ve beaten their -6.5 point handicap, and a bet on them will win. If the Patriots are able to lose by 6 points or less, or even win the game, then their +6.5 line is good and they’re the winning pick.

Totals

The most common kind of totals bet you’ll get is an over/under wager. As an example, the over/under on a football game could be 49.5, and you’d need to wager on there being 49 points or less, or upwards of 50 points scored.

Teasers

If you look at the bottom of your bet slip at Pinnacle, you’ll see a section called ‘Teasers’. These are complex bets and are only available on football and basketball, but as they’re prominently mentioned, we thought we’d give you a quick overview.

In short, with teasers, you’re able to move points from one market to another. In football, you could bet on two NFL games, one with a 9.5-point spread and another with a 3.5-point spread. With a teaser, you could move 3 points from the first game to the second, so that both games have a 6.5 point spread.

Pinnacle Does Not Accept Crypto Payments in Ontario

Pinnacle in Ontario does not accept crypto payments in any form. While you’re able to use some leading cryptocurrencies at the global Pinnacle site that services the other provinces, those options are not available here.

This is down to the conditions of the iGaming Ontario licence that Pinnacle holds. All cryptocurrencies are inherently anonymous, and while this is usually a massive positive, it unfortunately makes them incompatible with the Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) guidelines that Pinnacle must follow.
