Trevoh Chalobah has been linked with a move to West Ham in the latest round of rumours about the defender’s future.

The Times, as quoted here by TBR Football, say that Chelsea have “offered” their home grown defender to the Hammers, who are weak at the back and looking for a new first choice centre back.

The 24 year old has proved himself time and time again as a reliable and versatile defender, and in the second part of last season he played a vital role in the late surge of results which snatched a Europa Conference League place right at the death.

He’s been a hit wherever he’s been – on loan and back at Stamford Bridge where he rather unexpectedly broke into the first team picture in 2021, and hasn’t looked back since. Fans would be gutted to see him go, as a home grown player who has had to fight his way to the top.

A strong position for Chalobah

We accepted long ago that the current sporting directors have made it their absolute priority to sell Chalobah, and it’s now just a question of finding the team who will pay the price we want.

Of course, an important factor in all this is Chalobah himself. There were attempts to sell him last summer but he resisted and made himself a key player when he was back from injury. He’s made it clear he will only leave on his terms, and that likely means pushing for a team playing in Europe.

He’s proved his level and he has plenty of contract left at Chelsea. For all the intent to sell him, he could end up gong nowhere. Bayern Munich were keen on him just a year ago – could you blame him for holding out for something a little more impressive than West Ham?
