Inter midfielder and Türkiye international Hakan Calhanoglu has reassured Nerazzurri supporters that he has and has never had any intention of leaving the club.

The 30-year-old stopped to speak to Sportitalia in the mixed zone of the Olympiastadion in Berlin, following Türkiye’s 2-1 loss to the Netherlands in the EURO 2024 quarter-final on Saturday night.

“I’ve never thought about leaving,” Calhanoglu told the press.

He continued: “I’m proud to be a part of the Inter family. I’m an Interista, my heart is Nerazzurro. Let’s continue.”

Reports at the beginning of EURO 2024 suggested that Bayern Munich had registered an interest in signing Calhanoglu this summer, and that the player had briefly entertained the idea of a switch to the Allianz Arena.

However, the player himself later shut those claims down, insisting that he is happy at Inter, a stance that he has maintained since.

He is now set for a quick break after Türkiye’s elimination from the EUROs on Saturday night, before returning to Inter for preseason training.
