Marseille are getting closer and closer to signing Inter Milan attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni this summer.

Carboni has just finished up with the Copa America with Argentina.

The Albiceleste won the competition for the second time in a row. Inter midfielder Carboni did not play much of a role in the triumph, but his inclusion in the squad spoke volumes on its own.

Now, the question will be what the future holds for Carboni at club level.

Last season, the Argentine was out on loan at Monza.

This was an important experience for Carboni to gain regular experience at senior level. After a few months spent finding his feet, he became a regular in the Brianzoli’s starting eleven in Serie A.

Now, the sense is that Carboni is ready for a new challenge.

This is hardly likely to be in Inter’s senior team next season. Therefore, the Nerazzurri will have to either sort out a new loan for Carboni – or sell him outright his summer.

Marseille Close In On Signing Of Inter Attacking Midfielder Valentin Carboni

There have been a few clubs to have shown an interest in signing Carboni this summer.

Fiorentina, Atalanta, and Lazio all also keen on the teenager.

However, the team to have pushed the hardest to sign Carboni are Marseille.

New coach Roberto De Zerbi considers the Argentine to be one of his major targets for this summer transfer window.

According to Mediaset, around €10 million now separates Inter and Marseille in negotiations.

The French club have put a bid worth around €30 million on the table. Meanwhile, Inter are still holding out for €40 million.

Then, Mediaset report, Inter will also likely try to include a buyback option in the deal. They do not want to lose control of Carboni’s future forever.

Mediaset report that it now shouldn’t be too long before Marseille secure a deal for Carboni.

Then, the broadcaster notes, once they complete a seal of Carboni Inter should be ready to make their move for Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson.
