Parma were jeered by their own fans after a 1-1 home draw with troubled Venezia, as Joel Pohjanpalo and Hernani both converted penalties in this relegation dogfight.
There were five points separating these teams and both had lengthy absentee lists. The hosts missed Nahuel Estevez, Adrian Bernabé, Mateusz Kowalski, Alessandro Circati, Gabriel Charpentier and Gianluca Di Chiara, but added new signing Alessandro Vogliacco. Francesco Zampano was suspended for Venezia, with Michael Svoboda, Alfred Duncan, Giorgio Altare, Richie Sagrado and Joel Schingtienne injured.
Matteo Cancellieri steered a cross inches wide in the opening minutes with the inside of the left boot, but John Yeboah was prevented from tapping in the Antonio Candela cross from six yards by a clumsy Mandela Keita challenge from behind. VAR spotted it and a penalty was awarded, which Joel Pohjanpalo emphatically converted to give Venezia the lead.

Parma struggled to mount any kind of reaction, so coach Fabio Pecchia made a triple substitution at half-time. It paid off, because immediately Drissa Camara hit a scorcher from distance to test Filip Stankovic, who was also tested by an in-swinging Dennis Man corner.
Camara tested Stankovic again with a powerful finish, then robbed Candela at the by-line to force a penalty. While Pecchia was furious that Candela did not receive a second yellow card for that foul, it still allowed Hernani to convert from the spot for the equaliser.
Venezia replied with Doumbia forcing a save out of Zion Suzuki, while Stankovic kept the ferocious long-range Hernani free kick out of the top corner.
Venezia gave Alessio Zerbin his debut after the transfer from Napoli and within minutes he had sent Gaetano Oristanio through for an angled drive in off the inside of the far post, but VAR disallowed it for offside.
Parma kept pushing to the end, Camara stinging Stankovic’s gloves again and Dennis Man firing over from the resulting corner.
