Rangers fans react to significant Fabio Silva criticism | OneFootball

The reaction and fallout to-now-departed Rangers loan striker Fabio Silva’s exiting comments really did make Ibrox Noise shake our collective heads, and summed up the very issue the Portuguese was on about.

As we know, he went to the press wishing the club the best, but explaining he didn’t appreciate the abuse the fans gave him on social media when he made a mistake or had a bad match. Full details in this piece.

We agreed with him. The nature of our fans to go onto a players’ social media and giving abuse and slurs just because the player did something the fans disliked really did sum up where the club is right now. And it isn’t good.

But by raising this topic, the very issue he was on about, reared its head again as the same fans then told him to eff off, to go eff himself, to never come back, that he was a c*nt, a pr*ck….

So by saying ‘I didn’t like the abuse I got’ and Ibrox Noise agreeing and saying it needs to be cut out, the fans respond with ‘eff off and die’.

This, our dear valued readers, is why our club is in the slime right now – the fans are absolutely vile in their behaviour at the moment, and we’re not proud of the way too many of our fellow peers are conducting themselves.

Is it because Rangers are so poor and the season ended up a wreck?

Yes, 99% it is. Even in the darkest days of 2012- we don’t recall this level of toxicity, the fans indeed were as united as we can ever remember and it wasn’t till the dying embers of Ally’s reign as manager and the protests and Sports Direct rubbish around 2014 did divisions start appearing. But since then?

This is by far the most unpleasant we’ve been as a fanbase, and the rot and directionlessness from the club (where is it even going these days) is a major part of this.

So while we’re never condoning this fan behaviour, the problems begin at the top with the club’s board, into the shambolic squad and their behaviours, and the manager’s own appalling conduct of the past few months.

And it stems from the collapse on the pitch the past 4+ months.

Will success create a better vibe? It will, of course, fans will be much happier and far more supportive of things.

A successful club is a happy club.

And then maybe our fans will just leave Silva alone…
