Rangers ‘to announce’ major new signing on Monday | OneFootball

Rangers are finally ready to announce Hamza Igamane with the news imminent after his former club AS FAR Rabat confirmed he’s joined Philippe Clement at Ibrox.

The 21-year-old Moroccan striker will become Rangers’ fourth ‘new’ signing of the summer window after putting pen to paper on a long-term deal, said to be five years, and isn’t regarded as ‘one for the future’ but is said to be earmarked as Rangers’ main number 9.

The £1.5M addition from the Moroccan top flight is certainly a bit of a surprise package to Rangers fans, and there is more than a speck of the ‘Pedros’ about all these random unknown overseas signings including one Scottish signing from Aberdeen!

But the scouting team and the manager chose this path, Philippe Clement and Director of Football Recruitment Nils Koppen are green lighting these additions meaning this is very much the club’s endorsed rebuild.

Are we sceptical? Yes, we are – we’ve seen this before, not just Pedro, but under Mark Warburton, signing random youth from other clubs – the only difference is the players we’re signing now, aside arguably Jefte, were all wanted by their parent clubs.

But what’s better – a kid who’s not good enough for Arsenal or Spurs, like Zelalem or Oduwa, or one who is good enough but only at a much, much lower level like Morocco and FAR Rabat?

That seems like 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

Clement is putting big faith in these young lads, and while we love the signing of Connor Barron, we’re a lot less sure about the other three.

But then, it’s not our job on the line if these new signings don’t deliver – Clement and Koppen are really taking a big risk here and hopefully they are the ones feeling smug about their judgement before too long.

Igamane should be announced on Monday.
