It’s going to be a big summer for strikers in the Premier League, it seems.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United desperately need one. Liverpool and plenty of other sides could do with one.

Not only that, but some of the big names we’ve seen linked endlessly with a move to the English top flight look set to finally make the jump this summer. That includes Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, and the most long-awaited of them all: Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian striker has repeatedly come close to joining a number of Premier League sides, at least according to the rumours we hear every summer, but Napoli’s steep asking price has continually prevented anyone taking the plunge.

That tough stance finally backfired last year, as Osimhen kicked up a fuss, nobody wanted to buy him, and he was bunded out to Galatasaray on loan at the deadline. Napoli have now accepted that they have to lower their demands, with talk of a €75m release clause being added to the 26 year old’s contract to keep him happy.

Chelsea must move fast to avoid being left empty handed in gold rush for strikers

CaughtOffside today report that Manchester United are pushing hard for Osimhen, and they may see that price as tolerable. Meanwhile with Arsenal reportedly keen on Gyokeres – does that leave Chelsea with Sesko?

Or does someone else swoop for the Leipzig man and leave us empty handed? After last summer where we kept our powder dry and ended up short up top, that just can’t happen again. It’s all setting up to be a very exciting summer all around, and we’re sure that some of these selling clubs are rubbing their hands at the prospect of there being more buyers than top strikers on the market.
