Enzo Maresca has refused to discuss whether Jadon Sancho will be a Chelsea player next season or not, but admitted the winger has not been good enough this season.
Sancho is on loan from Manchester United, a deal which includes an obligation to buy for £25m. But Chelsea are widely believed to be able to get out of that by paying a £5m penalty fee.
The player himself is rumoured to be keen on rejoining former club Borussia Dortmund, where he initially made his name between 2017 and 2021 and enjoyed a loan spell last season.
"I'm completely focused about nine games, two months to go, I'm completely focused about that," Maresca told reporters when the subject of Sancho’s future was brought up this week.
"Then what happens in summer, we'll see. The Jadon situation doesn't change. In terms of numbers, he could do better, no doubt. It is not just about Jadon but we have more players in the same situation," the Italian coach added.

Sancho has managed nine goal involvements in 29 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring just twice. At his best for Dortmund four years ago, it was virtually a goal or assist per game.
The 25-year-old is still generally starting games for Chelsea, but he is yet to score in 2025 and his most recent assist came on 4 January – three months ago. Sancho himself has actually admitted being "annoyed" by his lack of goals this season.
Chelsea are now increasingly linked with Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, like Sancho a young Englishman who moved to the German club to get his start in professional football. If Sancho ends up joining Dortmund, whether sold on by Chelsea or offloaded by Manchester United, he could ironically be the one who replaces Gittens at Signal Iduna Park.
