Nico WIlliam has been one of the rising stars in the ongoing European Championship, having played a key role in helping Spain win all three of their group games.

Nico’s partnership with Lamine Yamal in the attacking third has been a particular highlight and there is now talk of the Athletic Club winger potentially joining the Catalans this summer.

Amid rampant speculation, over his future, Nico Williams was the subject of a lighthearted joke from his Spain teammates during a training session ahead of their Euro 2024 clash against Georgia.

In a recently surfaced video, Barcelona players including Pedri and Ferran Torres joked with Williams about potentially inheriting the prestigious No. 10 shirt at Camp Nou.

Interestingly, the conversation was initiated by Real Madrid players Joselu and Nacho. They addressed Lamine Yamal with a reference to Barça’s number ’10’. “So you don’t like ’27’ anymore. Not anymore, right?”

“At the moment Ansu Fati has it, we have to respect him because he has it. I have always said that that has been my dream and that I would never say no to that,” Yamal said.

Shortly afterwards, Ferran and Pedri joined in. Pedri tells Nico, who was standing nearby, “Nico, you have to change the number ten.”

The midfielder, though, insists that between Fati, Nico and Yamal, “There can’t be three number tens!”

Ferran Torres then added to the teasing, saying that Williams’ hairstyle wouldn’t suit a No. 10.

Barcelona, though, certainly won’t mind Nico’s hairstyle, should they get the opportunity to sign the Spanish international in the upcoming summer transfer window.

However, Nico himself has recently played down rumours over his future, expressing his delight at Athletic Club. Barcelona, therefore, might need to look elsewhere if they are to beef up their attacking unit this summer.
