As FC Barcelona were not participating in the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, the Blaugrana players got to enjoy a few weeks off after a memorable 2024-25 season. However, these holidays are already over, as the players returned to the club yesterday to undergo physical and medical tests before starting with their pre-season training today, on Monday.
The Catalans are set to leave for the pre-season tour of Asia in a few days, and Hansi Flick will be looking to get his players back in good shape before the team leaves for Japan.
During this period, the German coach will have almost all the first team players available. The only two exceptions will be Marc Bernal and Gerard Martin, who are currently in the final stages of their recoveries from their respective injuries. This is also the case with the youngster Dani Rodriguez.
According to Mundo Deportivo, all three of these players will be following a special training plan in these first few weeks of pre-season training to ensure they come back strongly for the next season.
Marc Bernal suffered a torn ACL almost a year ago in the match against Rayo Vallecano. Currently, he is in the last stages of recovery, and he is expected to join the rest of his teammates gradually in training and will travel with them to Asia. The midfielder arrived early from his holidays to cut deadlines and complete his recovery as soon as possible.
The defender Gerard Martin suffered a hand injury while playing in the U-21 European Championship with the Spanish team around a month ago. He was unable to do any physical work during the holidays as stitches prevented him from doing so, but he has already gotten rid of these stitches and is working to return to training with the team in the coming days.
Lastly, Dani Rodriguez was unfortunate to suffer a dislocated shoulder in his debut with the first team in the game against Real Valladolid. He has already completed almost two of the three months he was expected to spend on the sidelines, but of these three players, he will need the most time to return to training with the group.
