At a time when Barcelona have struggled financially, the club are primarily relying on player sales to generate fresh revenue.

While the club are yet to sanction a big-money departure this summer, the sale of non-key players as well as trade receivables from previous deals have kept the coffers running.

In fact, a recent report from Diario SPORT suggests that Barcelona have raked in €23 million from the sale of non-key players and clause receivables this summer.

Details of Barcelona’s €23 million inflow this summer

The biggest cash injection came from direct player sales. The club earned €6 million from the sale of Alex Valle to Como and €5 million from Pablo Torre’s move to Real Mallorca, which was confirmed earlier in the day after much delay.

Barcelona also €1.2 million from the transfer of Sergi Dominguez to Dinamo Zagreb.

But a significant chunk of income also came from resale clauses included in past deals. Barcelona received €8 million from Jean-Clair Todibo’s transfer to West Ham, having retained a 20% cut when he was sold to Nice.

Other similar bonuses included €1.75 million from Ludovit Reis’ move to Club Brugge, €600,000 from Ilaix Moriba’s switch to Celta Vigo, and €500,000 from Alex Collado’s transfer to Al-Shamal.

All told, these clever contractual clauses and smaller player exits have brought in a total of €23 million, an important financial boost for the club.

On the flip side, Barcelona’s transfer expenditure for the summer stands at €28 million, which accounts for a healthy deficit of just €5 million.

But going forward, Barcelona would need to sell more players if they are to return to the 1:1 rule and bring in new players to the team.
