FC Barcelona have a crucial game coming ahead for them as they take on Rayo Vallecano in La Liga tonight. Winning this game will allow the Catalans to return to the top of the league table, as both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid dropped points in their last league match on Saturday.
However, as SPORT has noted, another factor that will make this match special for the Blaugrana fans will be the presence of the son of one of their legends, Samuel Eto’o, as Etienne Eto’o will be traveling with the Rayo team to Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.
The Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o was one of the best strikers to ever play for the Catalan team, and during his time at Barcelona won 2 UEFA Champions League titles among other achievements.
However, Etienne does not have the best relationship with his father, as Samuel did not pay the pension that the Rayo Vallecano footballer’s mother, Marian Pineda, was entitled to get.
She initiated a lawsuit against the former Cameroon international in 2018, and three years later, got an order in her favor that compelled Samuel to pay €2500 in alimony every month.

Etienne was born in August 2002, when his father was playing at Mallorca. Shortly after his birth, in 2004, the Cameroonian joined Barcelona and went on to play 199 games and score 130 goals for the Catalan team.
Meanwhile, his son is following in his footsteps, as he is also a physically imposing striker, who has already made his debut with the Vallecano first team. This debut came in a Copa del Rey tie in October, and he marked the event with a goal.
However, he still usually plays with the Rayo reserve team in the Tercera RFEF, but he has been called up to complete the squad for this upcoming game against Barcelona, even though it will be difficult for him to get any minutes in this game.
