Looking at these Premier League fixtures in this round of matches.
Seeing the other games from a Newcastle United perspective.
Eddie Howe and his players at home on Sunday afternoon.
As well as that St James’ Park contest between Newcastle United and Manchester United though, the other 18 Premier League clubs also play.
Five games on Saturday and then four on Sunday (including the NUFC match), then one on Monday..
As a Newcastle United fan, have a look at this weekend’s other Premier League fixtures and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is likely in terms of results.

My Conclusions
Saturday 12 April
Man City v Palace – In the last six seasons, Man City have only won twice in six Premier League meetings against Palace, the visitors drawing two and winning two. That was as Man City won title after title, so what about the current situation? Man City have won only one of their last three PL home matches and their last four PL games (home and away), they have only managed to defeat a woeful Leicester 2-0 at the Etihad. Meanwhile, Palace have won four and drawn one of their last five Premier League matches and last lost a PL away match on 21 October 2024, six months ago! Looking a bit toothless without Haaland, all these stats strongly suggest Man City aren’t going to win today. Here’s hoping.
Brighton v Leicester – Brighton have lost their last two Premier League matches but difficult to see anything other than a home win. Leicester having lost 15 of their last 16 PL games and losing all of their last eight without scoring a single goal. Brighton are outsiders for a Champions League spot and for any Newcastle fans hoping for them to drop points, I suppose you can cling to the fact that apart from their win at Spurs nine matches ago, the last previous point that Leicester picked up was at home to Brighton in a 2-2 draw on 8 December 2024.
Forest v Everton – After winning three Premier League matches in a row, will Forest’s defeat at Villa now start a late season collapse? Room for NUFC optimism that the scouse mackems might frustrate Forest and maybe get a draw. Everton have only lost one of their last 11 PL matches, although the last six have seen five draws and one defeat, the last four of those five draws all ended 1-1. I think Moyes’ team might sneak another goal and point with a dour negative display yet again.
Southampton v Villa – Villa have won their last three Premier League matches but how much will that PSG first leg have taken out of them and what kind of team will Emery put out, ahead of that Champions League second leg? Southampton have the incentive of trying to avoid becoming the worst ever PL team, needing a point to match Derby’s record low total and of course a win would smash it for Southampton, the already relegated side would soar to 13 points. Southampton did draw against Palace in their last home PL match, the first time they’d avoided defeat at home since 2 November 2024. I am not holding out great hopes but just maybe now the pressure is kind of off them having already been relegated, a small piece of hope that they could repeat that draw they achieved against Palace. Saints actually led from the 20th minute in that game and Palace only equalised in the 92nd minute.
Arsenal v Brentford – Brentford have only lost once away from home in the Premier League since 15 December 2024, that one away defeat in four months was at…Newcastle. Arsenal have only won two of their last six PL matches and appear to have accepted no chance of catching Liverpool. With their focus now massively on the Champions League and finishing the job off against Real Madrid in midweek, I think Brentford can get at least a point today.
Sunday 13 April
Chelsea v Ipswich – The good news is that Ipswich outplayed and defeated Chelsea 2-0 on 30 December 2024. The not so positive news is that Ipswich have only won one other PL match since then. However, that latest win did come in their last away match and it was at Bournemouth. Ipswich also led for most of their last match until Wolves scored twice late on. Chelsea will be big favourites and should win, however, the blues have only won five of their last 15 PL matches and I wouldn’t be putting any money on them.
Liverpool v West Ham – A late collapse for Liverpool starting with that defeat to Fulham last weekend? Wishful thinking probably. The Hammers though have improved to a certain extent, other than losing to Newcastle United, the other five of their last six PL games have seen only one other defeat for West Ham.
Wolves v Spurs – After losing three and drawing one of their last four games, Spurs finally won a PL match, though it was against rock bottom Southampton. Wolves have won their last three PL matches, although they were all against other clubs in the bottom five. However, Spurs are so weak and will be another club with eyes mainly on their next game in European competition, so I fancy Wolves to make it four PL wins in a row.
Newcastle United v Man U – The only match that really counts. Newcastle looking to make it five wins in a row (all competitions), whilst Man U have only won two of their last eight PL matches, against soon to be relegated Leicester and Ipswich. Man U are also only looking at Europe to save their season, so a lot of confidence that United will make it five PL wins in a row.
