“Plenty of names” – Chelsea insider lists five players on club’s radar as centre back search continues | OneFootball

Chelsea have Jorrel Hato, Murillo, Jarrad Branthwaite, Marc Guehi and Tomas Araujo on their radar as they look for a new centre back according to reports.

The Blues are set for another busy summer and have already completed the signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich for £30m.

More new faces are expected to follow Delap, with the Blues looking to add a versatile forward, left winger and centre back to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Chelsea have Guehi, Araujo and Branthwaite on their radar

There’s set to be a shake up at centre back this summer with the likes of Renato Veiga and Axel Disasi set to leave, whilst there are question marks surrounding the future of Benoit Badiashile.

The Blues have been linked with several names including Crystal Palace captain Guehi, but there haven’t been any major updates recently.

However, Bobby Vincent has provided an update and reported the Blues have five centre backs on their radar.

“Plenty of names on the club’s radar,” he told Football London.

“Hato is one of them, yes, but also the likes of Murillo, Jarrad Branthwaite, Marc Guehi and Tomas Araujo.”

Chelsea have reportedly made Araujo their priority target, but the 23-year-old is said to have an €80m release clause after signing a new contract in December.

Arguably the left side of defence is more important than a centre back with Chelsea in desperate need of a back-up for Marc Cucurella.

Cucurella is currently the only left back in the squad and Chelsea would have a major issue if anything happened to him.

Ajax star Hato has been identified as a target and the 19-year-old is a left back who can also play at centre back.

Chelsea are said to have held initial talks over a move for Hato, but Arsenal are also interested in the Dutch international.
