After two years on the club’s books, FC Barcelona bid goodbye to Francisco Trincao back in the summer of 2022, selling him to Sporting CP in a permanent transfer.
As per the terms of the agreement, Sporting paid Barça a transfer fee of €10 million for Trincao, with the Catalans retaining 50% of the winger’s rights.
Barcelona also held a buyback clause worth €20 million for Trincao in 2025, which increased from €15 million in 2023 and €17.5 million in 2024.
Now, in an official statement, Sporting CP have confirmed that they have purchased the remaining 50% rights of Trincao from Barcelona for a fee of €11 million.
“Sporting Club has reached an agreement with FC Barcelona regarding the purchase of 50% of the economic rights of the player Francisco Trincao, for an amount of €11,000,000.00 (eleven million euros),” the statement read.
“As a result, Sporting Club now owns 100% of the economic rights of the aforementioned player. It is also announced that Sporting Club will not bear any fees related to intermediary services.”
The €11 million revenue is a boost for Barcelona and should help their bid to return to the 1:1 Fair Play rule.
The sales and deals involving former players have proven quite beneficial for the Catalans this summer, with several other moves involving the likes of Jean-Clair Todibo and Alex Collado, among others, bringing in financial benefits.
