Matt O’Riley continues being linked with Roma.

The Brighton midfielder, born in 2000, is one of the profiles closely followed by Frederic Massara to strengthen Gian Piero Gasperini’s midfield.

The name is not new to either the coach or the sporting director: both had already tried to land the deal last summer, respectively with Atalanta and Rennes, without managing to bring him home.

Today the scenario could be more favorable. Napoli have come forward, but according to sources close to the player, O’Riley is “intrigued” by the type of football proposed by Gasperini, who sees him as the ideal mezz’ala in his dynamic and aggressive system.

A preference that could prove decisive, especially if a concrete offer were to arrive from Roma, writes Il Romanista.

Brighton, however, do not intend to sell off its jewel: the valuation remains high, around 32 million euros. A figure currently out of reach for the Giallorossi, struggling with the last sales to be closed by June 30 to settle the accounts.

For this reason, in Trigoria they are evaluating the possibility of formulating a more creative proposal: loan with buy option, perhaps with bonuses linked to appearances or European qualifications.

While waiting for developments, Massara keeps in touch with the player’s entourage and monitors Brighton’s position, ready to understand if there is room for negotiation.

In the meantime, O’Riley observes and waits: the Roma project, with Gasperini on the bench, fascinates him. And this, in today’s football, can make the difference.
