Lyon’s Jake O’Brien could be sold amid Premier League interest | OneFootball

According to L’Équipe, Jake O’Brien (23) could be sold as Olympique Lyonnais look to raise funds through the sale of some of their most valuable assets.

O’Brien arrived for a measly €1m from fellow Eagle Football-owned Crystal Palace in the summer. At the time, it wasn’t clear whether he would remain with the club, or whether he would be loaned out. The Irishman passed his trial at OL with aplomb, quickly, going on to make 32 appearances in all competitions. In that time, he scored four goals in Ligue 1, finishing as Lyon’s second-highest scorer, behind only Alexandre Lacazette.

O’Brien is looking to remain at OL, as he told Get French Football News in an exclusive interview last month, however, Lyon, with the uncertainty surrounding the TV rights deal and now the certainty of retaining the high-earning Lacazette, are looking to raise funds, €100m in fact, according to L’Équipe.

Cherki and Caqueret earmarked to join O’Brien in leaving Lyon

As one of the most bankable assets in the squad, O’Brien could be one of those to leave the club this summer, especially given the intense interest from Premier League clubs. Everton have previously been touted as an interested party, as per Foot Mercato.

In order to reach that €100m figure, other players would have to leave. Academy products Maxence Caqueret and Rayan Cherki could also leave. The latter is garnering interest from Borussia Dortmund, West Ham United and Paris Saint-Germain. The latter remain confident of luring the France youth international to the Parc des Princes, Get French Football News understands.
