Owen Goodman is on the verge of a temporary switch to the John Smith's Stadium
Huddersfield Town are on the verge of sealing a loan deal for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Owen Goodman.
The Terriers are certainly making an impact in the early stages of the transfer market, with four new arrivals already entering the fold in West Yorkshire, handing new manager Lee Grant a big boost in his first ever job as a number one in the dugout.
Owner Kevin Nagle is certainly backing the former Premier League and EFL goalkeeper with the players he needs, and fresh competition for Lee Nicholls in-between the sticks could be set to arrive in the near future.
As reported by The Athletic, Huddersfield are in discussions with the Eagles over taking the 21-year-old to the John Smith's Stadium for the entirety of the 2025-26 League One season, and those talks appear to be reaching a positive conclusion.
Goodman spent the 2023-24 season on loan at AFC Wimbledon in League Two, playing in all 49 of the Dons' matches during the regular season and play-off campaign, keeping 24 clean sheets in the process and 25 in all competitions - including in all three play-off matches - as the London outfit won promotion to League One.
FLW exclusively revealed that Huddersfield were interested in signing Goodman last week, and they are set to beat divisional rivals Bolton Wanderers and Barnsley to his services.
If signed, Goodman would be Huddersfield's fifth signing of the summer and first loanee, following on from the permanent additions of Ryan Ledson, Marcus Harness, Joe Low and Sean Roughan.
If Huddersfield Town weren't already making it clear what their intentions are ahead of the new season, then a deal to take Goodman for the season will certainly do it.
They've already added a mix of Championship experience as well as top League One defenders, but getting a new goalkeeper in to compete with Nicholls was important, as the current Huddersfield number one is now 32 years of age and spent a lengthy amount of time on the sidelines last season with a shoulder injury.
Goodman is still in the infancy of his career, but he was incredibly impressive for AFC Wimbledon last season, and the next step for his progression is League One, where he will be looking to prove that in time he's capable of being a Premier League player.
