The 21-year-old, who has represented England at youth level, is highly-rated by the Eagles after coming through the ranks, but he has understandably found game time hard to come by.

Therefore, the club have sanctioned loan moves for the stopper in recent seasons, with Goodman spending the 2023/24 campaign with Colchester, before he was with AFC Wimbledon last season.

Owen Goodman transfer latest as Huddersfield, Barnsley and Bolton circle

Goodman’s time with the Dons was particularly successful, as he starred for Johnnie Jackson’s side as they won promotion to League One, keeping 24 clean sheets in the process, which included a shut-out in the 1-0 play-off final win over Walsall.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise that there is plenty of interest in Goodman ahead of next season, with FLW exclusively revealing that Huddersfield had joined Bolton in trying to sign the player.

And, in a fresh development, journalist Alan Nixon has confirmed that the Tykes are also tracking the youngster, whilst AFC Wimbledon would love to bring him back to the club as well.

Barnsley loanee Joe Gauci headed back to Aston Villa at the end of last season, with Conor Hourihane searching for new competition for young stopper Kieran Flavell.

Owen Goodman could be a key figure for any League One side

It’s understandable that all these clubs are looking at Goodman, as he is a very talented goalkeeper.

He was integral to Wimbledon last season, as he didn’t miss a game during their promotion push, and he came up big for Jackson’s side on many occasions.

Not only is he a good shot-stopper, but Goodman also commands his box, and when you take his age into account, he has the potential to keep improving.

So, the natural next step for the player is League One, and it seems apparent he will have several options on the table that Goodman and Palace will need to assess.

With Huddersfield, Bolton and Barnsley all expecting to be in the mix for promotion next season, they all look attractive options to Goodman, and you feel he would go in as number one at any of those clubs.

You would expect a decision to be made in the coming weeks, and whoever does manage to secure Goodman will be pulling off a real coup, as you would expect him to be a top keeper by third tier standards next season.
