However, one operation that continues to remain complicated for the Catalans is that of the midfielder Frenkie de Jong. The Dutchman’s contract with Barcelona is running out in 2026, and despite his reported recent change of heart, he is yet to arrive at an agreement with the Blaugranes for a renewal.

In this context, SPORT reports that Frenkie’s agent, Ali Dursun, landed in Barcelona yesterday afternoon, and tonight, he is expected to visit the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium for the match between the Catalan team and Rayo Vallecano.

However, the agent has not yet had a meeting with Deco, as the Portuguese official is currently away in Portugal for personal reasons.

Still, addressing the Dutch midfielder’s situation is one of the priorities of the Blaugrana technical staff, which has only two possibilities in mind. The Netherlands international will have to either sign a renewal or agree to a sale, as Barcelona do not want to see him leaving the club as a free agent in the coming year.

Meanwhile, Frenkie has also seen his importance in Hansi Flick’s team enhance in the last few weeks, and his performances have also improved significantly after he struggled to impress following his recovery from a long-term ankle injury.
