Last season, Mkhitaryan was one of Inter’s absolutely vital players.

The Armenian veteran virtually never dropped out of the starting eleven as the Nerazzurri romped to the Serie A title.

That was a testament to the work that Mkhitaryan did in balancing the midfield.

Mkhitaryan’s work on both sides of the ball was key in two senses. He formed the first-choice midfielder trio with Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu.

But the Armenian also had a nearly telepathic understanding with Federico Dimarco and Alessandro Bastoni on Inter’s left flank.

Mkhitaryan’s positioning, tackling, technical finesse, and passing were all crucial in this respect.

But one thing that the 35-year-old did not do much of was scoring goals.

Mkhitaryan did score twice in a 5-1 thrashing of AC Milan in the derby in Inter’s fourth match of the season. But after that, he did not find the back of the net.

Meanwhile, the Armenian did make eight assists, showing that he still has plenty of productivity in the final third.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: “I Want More Goals & Assists” For Inter Milan Next Season

Mkhitaryan remarked that “I’ve always been someone who aims for the absolute maximum.”

“And I continue to be like that. Regardless of the position that I’m playing.”

“I only scored two goals last season,” Mkhitaryan noted.

“And I’m sorry for that, because I know I could have scored more.”

“But I’m not complaining,” the Armenian continued. “Because the general goal we had as a team was to win the title. Which we did.”

“I was also the player with the most assists for teammates,” Mkhitaryan noted.

“But my personal ambitions are always high.”

The former Roma, Arsenal, and Manchester United midfielder declared that “I want to score and assist more goals next season.”
