There are some conditions within Sergio Conceicao’s deal with AC Milan that mean he too could have a six-month stay just like Paulo Fonseca did.

In case you missed the two big bits of news in the past 24 hours, Milan have announced both the sacking of Fonseca after the 1-1 draw against Roma and the appointment of his replacement Conceicao, officially on an 18-month deal.

As Gianluca Di Marzio‘s website writes, Milan have announced that Conceiçao’s contract will expire on 30 June 2026. However, the Rossoneri will be able to terminate the relationship after six months, therefore at the end of the season.

The Portuguese coach and his staff will receive €1.5m for the remaining part of the 2024-25 campaign. Then, if things go well and they continue, the salary will increase to €3.5m for next season (once again including the staff).

Effectively, what it means is the next few months will serve as a trial period for the former Porto boss to try and earn a stay beyond the summer. He will have the chance to make an instant impression in early January with a trophy up for grabs: namely the Supercoppa Italiana out in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking of trophies, Conceicao won 11 of them in seven years with Porto and he has played for Lazio, Inter and Parma in Serie A, which means he combines winning with a prior knowledge of Serie A, at least on paper.
