Barcelona winger Raphina has called Alexandro Bernabei ‘an ace’ after posing with the fullback’s shirt. The Brazilian attacker, who is one of the favourites for the Ballon D’Or, shared the post on his Instagram feed to 13.7m followers.
The ex-Leeds United man has been one of the key figures in Hansi Flick’s revival of the Catalan Giants, helping them to win La Liga, Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey.
Bernabei arrived at Celtic expected to break Greg Taylor’s hold on the left back slot at the club. Like so many before him, Bernabei was unable to oust the Scottish International from the starting XI under Ange Postecoglou or Brendan Rodgers.
The 24-year-old left Celtic to join Internacional, initially on loan, before departing for £4.5m – a small profit on the outlay that Celtic made in 2022. Curiously enough, Celtic could make a profit from a sell-on clause inserted into the deal that they struck to send the player back to South America.
Another former Celtic fullback is expected to make a move this summer, which will benefit Celtic. Jeremie Frimpong will sign for Liverpool in the coming days, which will provide Celtic with £5.5m windfall.
