Barcelona’s recent 4-1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League indicated that something special is indeed brewing in Catalonia.

This makes it ever so important for the club to secure the future of their star players, including Pedri.

The young Spaniard has been the beating heart of the Barcelona midfield this season, not only taking a leadership role but also offering creativity and stability in the middle of the park.

Pedri’s brilliant start to the season has prompted Barcelona to step up their effort to renew his contract, which expires in 2026.

Barcelona meet Pedri’s agents

A recent report from Jijantes has offered a crucial update on the future of Pedri, suggesting that the player’s agent has recently held talks with Barcelona.

Indeed, Deco, the sporting director, met Pedri’s agents earlier today to discuss the player’s renewal.

Barcelona had already established initial talks surrounding Pedri’s contract extension, meaning this is the second such meeting that has happened.

The feelings between the two parties remain quite positive and nothing is expected to obstruct Pedri from penning a new deal at Barça.

This is a massive boost for Barcelona, who are also actively working on the contract extension of other star players including Gavi, Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong.

The Catalans will be hopeful of sealing new deals for these key players by the end of the year. However, their new deals could possibly come at the expense of some select first-team players, who may not have any future at Barça.

That is because the club will have to reduce the stress on the balance sheet and the only way of doing that will be to sanction the sale of more players in the upcoming January transfer window.
