Alexis Mac Allister looks like he will be at Liverpool for the long-term as details emerge of him purchasing a property from former Reds’ manager Brendan Rodgers.

Mac Allister, 25, is currently on international duty with Argentina at the Copa America and moved to Liverpool last summer from Brighton for a £35 million fee.

The World Cup winner has got a contract until 2028 at Anfield and appears to be making plans to settle in for the long term following the acquisition of the property.

The house, located in the prestigious community of Wilmslow, Cheshire, was bought by Rodgers in summer 2022.

Documents seen by The Times reveal that the current Celtic boss paid £3.95m for the property, which includes five bedrooms, a gym and a bar.

It also boasts a double garage and landscaped gardens as well as planning permission for “leisure facilities”.

The house is described in the brochure as: “an exceptional double gable-fronted contemporary residence finished to an uncompromising standard located on one of Wilmslow’s most prestigious roads”.

Rodgers put the house up for sale in August 2023 for £4.2m but did not attract a buyer at that price.

It was reduced to £4m but documents show that the transaction ultimately went through for £3.9m earlier this year, meaning the ex-Reds’ coach took a £50,000 hit on the deal.

Previous dwellers on the same street include Sir Alex Ferguson, who sold his property in the area following the sad loss of his wife, Lady Cathy.

Mac Allister on Real Madrid radar

It’s encouraging that Mac Allister is putting roots down in the area despite persistent links to Real Madrid in the background.

Los Blancos are known to be keen on the Argentina international but are unlikely to bid this summer owing to a massive outlay on Kylian Mbappe.

Nonetheless, reports in Argentina claim that the Spanish capital side have a long-standing interest in Mac Allister and could return with a bid next summer.

Mac Allister goes down as one of the signings of the Premier League season having excelled in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

He will be integral to Arne Slot’s new era at Anfield, combining ball-winning and playmaking capabilities in the centre of the pitch.
