American sportswear manufacturers Nike have been left hugely unimpressed by the behaviour of La Liga over the early weeks of the new season.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards as much as coming as a result of the refusal of the Spanish football authorities to allow Barcelona to make use of their new kits.
Hansi Flick’s Barca have now taken to the pitch on a pair of occasions in the defence of their La Liga title.
These outings culminated in a pair of victories, over Mallorca, and Real Oviedo.
In neither fixture, however, were the Blaugrana permitted by the league to line out in one of their three new kits for the season ahead.
Sport have provided an explanation as to why, as follows:
‘The protocol obliges the two clubs to upload their options in the official ‘Kit Selector’ application and from there the final combination is approved. The similarities of the three kits with the home of the two rivals did not allow it and forced Flick’s team to repeat the third green shirt of last season.’
These developments have left Nike, responsible for the design and manufacturing of the jerseys, understandably ‘angry’.
The American company, though, will at last be granted their wish this weekend, amid further confirmation that ‘as Sport has learned, Barcelona will debut their first kit in Vallecas against Rayo Vallecano.’
