Napoli sold Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during the winter transfer window. However, the Serie A side hurt their interest by not selling the Georgian attack during last year’s summer window.
Last summer, Paris Saint-Germain was keen on securing Kvaratskhelia. However, the capital club couldn’t convince the Italian side to sell as they firmly believed they could extend the forward.
Despite their decision, Napoli couldn’t extend the 24-year-old and eventually sold him to the Ligue 1 club in January for €70 million. Although they received a fair fee for their star player who wasn’t planning on extending his contract, they have now seen his ideal replacement get more expensive.

Serxhio Mezi, an intermediary for LOSC Lille’s Edon Zhegrova, spoke with Telecapri and stated that Napoli had Zhegrova ready to join, but they didn’t sell Kvaratskhelia to PSG. As a result, the deal didn’t go through.
Moreover, now if Napoli want Zhegrova, it’s going to cost them handsomely rather than securing the player on a bargain deal.
“He was supposed to join Napoli last summer if Kvaratskhelia had moved to PSG,” Mezi told the outlet. “Now Barcelona and Manchester United are in the race to sign him. Today, Lille are asking for €60 million for the player.”
Napoli have the money from the Kvaratskhelia transfer, it will be interesting to see how they use that money to replace the PSG standout.
