Paris Saint-Germain initially took a short-term approach by loaning Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig for another season. However, his future is more transparent, as the German club secured him permanently.
According to a previous report from CaughtOffside, Manchester United could have an edge over Manchester City in the race to sign Simons next summer.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Leipzig signed Simons from PSG in a deal worth €80 million, including add-ons. The initial fee is €55 million, with a sell-on clause included. As a result, the capital club have a vested interest in when Leipzig decide to sell the player, whether it’s this summer or in the future.

CaughtOffside reported Thursday that Liverpool are increasing their interest in signing Simons, according to sources. The Netherlands international is expected to be available for around €80 million this summer after Leipzig lowered their initial €100 million asking price.
The report also states that Liverpool plan to check on Simons’ availability, while Manchester City are keeping a close eye on the situation.
Liverpool could consider Simons a wide option to replace Mohamed Salah, who is nearing the end of his contract. The Dutchman is versatile enough to play in multiple attacking roles and could provide Arne Slot with a true number 10 in the lineup.
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports recently reported that Manchester United are still monitoring Xavi Simons and has maintained an interest in him. In addition to pursuing a striker, the club is also searching for a versatile attacking midfielder.
The main hurdle, though, is the price. RB Leipzig is asking for €80 million for Simons, making a deal challenging. Still, a transfer is not off the table.
