Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has fired a warning to Marcus Rashford.
The Red Devils registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.
Rashford was not part of the matchday squad for the 10th time in 11 games.
When asked about the reason, Amorim didn’t mince words.
He told media after the game (via Sky Sports News): “It’s always the same reason.
“The reason is the training. I see what a footballer should do in training, in life. Is every day, every detail. So if things don’t change, I will not change.
“It is same situation for every player, if you do the maximum, if you do the right things, we can use every player.
“And you see it today on the bench, because we miss a little bit pace, to go and change the game, to move some pieces, but I prefer like that.
“I will put the Vital before I put a player that don’t give the maximum every day. I will not change in that department.”
The 27-year-old is no longer part of Amorim’s plans.
Amorim’s comments clearly indicate that the relationship between the two is now strained.
If Rashford has not demonstrated the necessary commitment in training up until this point, it seems highly unlikely that his situation will change moving forward.
After Antony’s departure to Real Betis on loan, Amorim lacks attacking options on the bench.
Although he knows his alternatives are limited, Amorim made it clear that he would rather pick his goalkeeping coach, Jorge Vital, than a player who isn’t giving his all.
Even if Rashford remains at Old Trafford after the transfer window closes, his chances of returning to the squad seem slim.
Once described as “unstoppable” by former manager Erik ten Hag, Rashford has struggled to convince Amorim that he can elevate the quality of the team.
AC Milan appeared to be the front-runners to sign him this month but their move for Kyle Walker has brought an end to their pursuit.
Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund remain interested in securing his services, though his astronomical wages are proving to be a significant hurdle.
