Despite their financial concerns, FC Barcelona remains committed to making their team as well-equipped as possible. The Catalan giants still have a massive pull thanks to the club’s history and prestige, but convincing La Liga is another matter altogether. Even previously, Barcelona have struggled with registration issues with the league.
Still, the club has not given up on trying to secure a certain signing in this ongoing winter transfer window. The player that the Catalan club is pursuing is none other than Marcus Rashford, a 27-year-old English winger who is not having the best of seasons with Manchester United due to a lack of playing time and has thus been linked to the Spanish side.
Most recently, as highlighted by SPORT, Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim even indirectly criticized the player’s work ethic and commitment following his team’s close win over Fulham in the English Premier League. Asked if there was way for Rashford to be back in the team, Amorim was quick to suggest that the player did not seem fully committed:
“It’s always the same reason. The reason is the training, the way I see what a footballer should do. In training, in life and it’s every day, every detail. So if things don’t change, I will not change.”
He went even further, stating that he would rather start Manchester United goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital than a player who does not give his maximum, indirectly referring to Barcelona target Marcus Rashford:
“It’s the same situation for every player. If you do the maximum, if you do the right things … we can use every player. You can see it today on the bench – we miss a little bit of pace to go, to change the game, to move some pieces, but I prefer [it] like that. I will put Vital [on the bench] before I put a player that doesn’t give the maximum every day so I will not change in that.”
This is a big statement from the coach, and words like these often fuel even more transfer talk. Now it remains to be seen what ends up happening between now and the end of the transfer window, but Barcelona might have to stay on high-alert as big developments could potentially end up happening soon.
