The D-Day is here. Barcelona have until midnight tonight to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor with La Liga or they risk having to make do without the two players for the second half of the season.

What’s more, Olmo is even said to have a special clause in his contract which will allow him to leave the club for free if not registered.

The thought of a departure has never crossed the mind of the player or the club, but time is running out fast and the Blaugrana are yet to find a resolution for the issue.

Olmo’s camp getting unsettled and nervous

As such, AS reports that Olmo’s entourage is nervous and somewhat upset with the registration situation as the deadline looms large on Barcelona.

After all, the player will train from 10:00 AM today at Ciutat Esportiva, unaware if he will maintain his registration with La Liga after midnight, or if he will not be able to play for Barça again and will instead become a free agent, able to sign with any club.

Barcelona have tried to reassure the attacking midfielder during the holidays. “We will sort this out no matter what,” is the message passed on to the player and his camp by the management, including club president Joan Laporta.

Miquel Olmo, the player’s father, and Ramon Valencia, the player’s lawyer, met with Barcelona on 20 December and were assured that everything was under control. However, this has not been the case.

On 27 December, the Commercial Court No. 10 of Barcelona rejected the club’s appeal to register Olmo through a precautionary measure.

Then, on 30 December, the Court of First Instance No. 47 of Barcelona dismissed the club’s lawsuit against the league, again denying the request for a precautionary measure that would have allowed Olmo to continue playing.

As Olmo trains on Tuesday at the Ciutat Esportiva, La Liga will review the documentation submitted by Barcelona regarding the sale of a VIP box package for the future Spotify Camp Nou, amounting to €100 million, which would solve the issue.

If not, the final option would be for the club’s board members to provide a personal guarantee at the last minute.
