Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz continues to perform at a fantastic level for the Spanish national team. Ruiz was a standout for La Roja at UEFA Euro 2024 and it’s continuing into the UEFA Nations League competition.

Spain faced Switzerland on Sunday night at Stade de Genève, and it was the Ruiz show during the Matchday 2 contest. The 28-year-old scored a brace, following goals in the 13th and 77th minute as the reigning Euro champions keep moving.

Ruiz is a star for Spain, but he’s yet to establish himself as an undisputed starter for PSG. As a result, one journalist states that Real Madrid would love to have an opportunity to land the midfielder.

“There is a club he has always loved, and this club doesn’t dislike the player,” Eduardo Inda said on the set of El Chiringuito (h/t Le10Sport). “Real Madrid likes him and he would be interested in going there. He’s a footballer who wants to leave his current club because his relationship with the coach is bad.

“Last year, he didn’t start during part of the season, but later became a star for the Spanish team during the Euros. He is unhappy with Luis Enrique; they have a tense relationship. This kept him from being part of the World Cup in Qatar.”

Does Real Madrid face a challenge for Fabián Ruiz?

OKDiario also reports that it won’t be easy for Real Madrid to sign Fabián Ruiz in the coming months. With Kylian Mbappé’s departure, PSG is no longer forced to part ways with their best players. And even though the Spaniard is not one of Enrique’s top choices, the Parisian club has no intention of selling him unless a big offer comes next summer.

Following his brace against Switzerland, Ruiz entered an elite group in the Luis de la Fuente era. OptaJose spotlighted on Twitter the top Spain players involved in the most goals under de la Fuente across all competitions:

  • Lamine Yamal: three goals, eight assists
  • Joselu Mato: six goals, two assists
  • Mikel Oyarzabal: six goals, two assists
  • Dani Olmo: six goals, two assists
  • Nico Williams: three goals, five assists
  • Fabián Ruiz: four goals, four assists

How much could Ruiz cost Real Madrid or any interested club? According to Transfermarkt, the Spaniard has a value of €35 million, but PSG could ask for a little more since his stock is so high.
