Conor Gallagher has been watched by Newcastle scouts in recent weeks as the Magpies look to finalise their plans for the summer transfer window.

Gallagher’s future has been a constant topic of conversation with the England international’s contract expiring in 2025 , and talks over a new deal not thought to be at an advanced stage.

The 24-year-old has emerged as a key player for the Blues this season, and has put in a string of impressive performances.

The Cobham graduate has been linked with a move to rivals Tottenham but Chronicle Live have reported that a Newcastle scout was on the attendance list for Chelsea’s recent 4-3 win over Manchester United.

It’s believed the Magpies have expressed interest in Gallagher in the past and have routinely followed his progress.

Gallagher has made it clear that he doesn’t want to leave his boyhood club, while Mauricio Pochettino has also expressed his desire for the midfielder’s stay at Stamford Bridge to be extended.

Chelsea are believed to be asking for between £45-£50m for Gallagher, who could depart this summer to help the club comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

The midfielder has made 42 appearances in all competitions, with 30 coming in the Premier League, and has scored five goals and provided eight assists.

Gallagher has also captained the side this season in the absence of the injured Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

He has more than proven this season that he’s deserving of a new contract, and it would certainly leave a bad taste in the mouth if he were to depart.

Gallagher isn’t the only academy graduate who could be leaving the club this summer, with the Blues believed to looking to sell defenders Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen as well as forward Armando Broja.

Whatever happens it’s sure to be another busy summer in the transfer market for the Blues.
