City to face Huddersfield in Carabao Cup third round | OneFootball

City have been drawn away to Huddersfield Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The teams first met in the League Cup in September 1968 with a 0-0 draw at Leeds Road - Huddersfield's former ground.

City won the replay 4-0 at Maine Road - and those ties remain the only time the teams have met in this competition.

The Blues famously thumped the Terriers 10-1 at Maine Road in the old Second Division in November 1989 - though Huddersfield won the return 1-0!

City and Huddersfield last met in January 2024 in the FA Cup, with Pep Guardiola's men winning 5-0.

The West Yorkshire side are currently second in League 1.

Round Three of the Carabao Cup will be played across the weeks beginning 15 and 22 September to accommodate teams also taking part in European fixtures.

The date for our game at the 24,121-capacity Kirklees Stadium will be confirmed in due course.
