‘Sebastiano Esposito and Valentin Carboni are both set to play prominent roles for Inter Milan at the Club World Cup.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note that the absence of Mehdi Taremi will create a big void in attack to fill.

Inter Milan go into the Club World Cup with an attack that is looking very short-staffed at the moment.

First-choice strike partnership Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram are both available.

Therefore, that duo will certainly have a role to play.

However, as the Corriere notes, Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa have both left Inter.

That leaves only Mehdi Taremi available as attacking depth. But then, there is another unexpected setback – Mehdi Taremi is also unavailable.

The 32-year-old is currently unable to travel to the United States for the Club World Cup. He is stuck in Iran, where Israeli airstrikes have meant that the airspace is completely closed.

In the meantime, Sebastiano Esposito has returned to Inter following the end of his loan with Empoli.

Therefore, the 22-year-old has travelled with the squad to the US for the Club World Cup.

Meanwhile, Valentin Carboni has finally recovered from a serious knee injury which had prematurely ended his loan at Marseille and caused him to miss much of last season.

Therefore, new Inter coach Cristian Chivu is not entirely without options to call upon in attack.

The Romanian will certainly use both Esposito and Carboni in order to lighten the load on Martinez and Thuram.

Francesco Pio Esposito should also return from injury as well. But for now, it is just Sebastiano Esposito and Carboni.
