Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo has been linked with a move away from the club during the summer transfer window, and Manchester United are keen on securing his signature.
The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the best attacking players in the Premier League, and he scored 20 goals last season. The Cameroon International picked up nine assists as well. He could prove to be an excellent addition for Manchester United, and they need someone like him on the flanks.
Mbeumo can operate as a right-sided attacker as well as a centre forward. His versatility will be a bonus if Manchester United can get the deal done. Recently, there have been rumours that the player could be open to joining Manchester United.
Journalist Duncan Castles has now opened up on the situation. He has revealed that the player had verbally informed Manchester United that he would prefer to join them this summer. However, he has not heard anything definite on the situation recently, and the player could easily opt for a move to Tottenham as well.
“Brentford accept that they have to sell the player, but they want at least £70m for him. The indication from Manchester United was that Mbeumo had chosen to move there and had verbally told them his preference was to move there. I’m not hearing the same on that. I think there is a good chance that Mbeumo, should Tottenham get to the price Brentford are asking for, that he might choose Tottenham ahead of Manchester United,” Castles said on The Transfers Podcast.

The attacker is reportedly valued at £70 million, and it remains to be seen where he ends up. Both clubs need attacking depth and could improve them in the final third. Apart from his ability to score goals, he will add unpredictability in the final third with his pace and trickery.
The player is at the peak of his powers, and he will want to compete at the highest level. Manchester United are among the biggest clubs in the world, but they will not be able to offer him Champions League football next season. They are going through a period of rebuilding, and it remains to be seen whether they can convince the player to join.
