Real Madrid have turned down Manchester United’s first offer for goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, according to a recent update from Fichajes.
Despite signing a contract extension, the Ukrainian goalkeeper’s future remains uncertain as the club prepares for a key meeting with the player following the Club World Cup.
Manchester United, on the lookout for a possible replacement for Andre Onana, who is attracting interest from AS Monaco, recently submitted an opening bid of around €15 million for Lunin.
However, this figure was immediately rejected by Real Madrid.
Interestingly, Real Madrid value the 26-year-old between €20–25 million as they feel Lunin is capable of playing a pivotal role.
For Los Blancos, he is not just a capable backup but a potential long-term starter at any other team.

Though Lunin has renewed his deal with Real Madrid, the agreement included a mutual understanding that his role would be re-evaluated at the end of the season.
While he has expressed a desire to stay and fight for his place, the final decision will depend on how Real Madrid plan to manage their goalkeeping hierarchy, particularly with Thibaut Courtois now fit and ready to return as first choice.
According to reports, Manchester United’s contact with Jorge Mendes, who represents Lunin, has not yet progressed beyond initial discussions.
Meanwhile, AC Milan are closely following the situation as they prepare for a possible sale of Mike Maignan to Chelsea. Should that deal go through, the Italian side may enter the race for Lunin as well.
Once the Club World Cup concludes, Lunin is expected to hold direct talks with Real Madrid’s hierarchy.
If the club can assure him of sufficient playing time or a clear pathway to eventually become the No. 1, the Ukrainian is likely to stay.
However, the chances of that happening are extremely low.
