Andre Onana is keen to fight for his place at Manchester United, complicating the club’s interest in Emiliano Martinez.
United are open to selling Onana this summer after two unconvincing campaigns at Old Trafford, with AS Monaco and Saudi Pro League sides keen on the Cameroonian.
However, the 29-year-old does not want to give up on his Manchester United career and is willing to fight for his place in Ruben Amorim’s side. Onana still has three years to run on the contract he signed when joining from Inter Milan in 2023.
The Guardian are reporting that Onana wants to stay at Manchester United despite the club’s interest in signing a new goalkeeper.
United have targeted a move for Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez, who could be sold to ease the club’s Premier League Profit and Sustainability concerns this summer.
Onana’s desire to stay could complicate that pursuit, amid a need for sales to raise funds. United risk missing out on Martinez with Atletico Madrid and Saudi Pro League sides stepping up their pursuit of the Argentina international.
The Daily Telegraph have claimed that Atletico are chasing the 32-year-old with Diego Simeone keen to sign his compatriot. Villa are understood to value Martinez at around £40m.
