A report reveals the events involving Simone Inzaghi and Romelu Lukaku that occurred in the week that preceded the UCL final between Inter Milan and Manchester City.

The Belgian striker spent last season on loan with the Nerazzurri. But following a chaotic summer transfer saga, he ended up joining AS Roma on loan from Chelsea.

The 30-year-old discussed the matter in a recent press conference while on international duty. He claims that Inter supporters would change their minds had they known his own version of the events. However, he didn’t get into details.

But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, this was only a desperate attempt from Lukaku who was trying to sway the Nerazzurri supporters who are preparing him a raucous welcome on October 29.

The source also reveals the events that ensued in the final week ahead of last season’s Champions League final.

Lukaku reportedly asked for an extra day of rest as he was feeling tired. So after working separately, he then resumed training with his teammates and was expecting to start in Istanbul.

Yet, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi opted to start Edin Dzeko, possibly taking into account Lukaku’s less-than-perfect physical condition.

The Belgian didn’t take his exclusion well, which may have prompted his summer exit.

The former Everton and Man United star entered the pitch in the second half and ended up costing his side dearly by inadvertently blocking Federico Dimarco’s shot on target.

The Cityzens emerged victorious thanks to Rodri’s solitary goal, winning their first-ever Champions League trophy.
